When I connect my...

When I connect my pandigital scanner to my computer nothing happens. It worked earlier this year. I have tried buying a new cable but still nothing.

Technician's Assistant: Is there an error code on your printer when you try to scan?

It scans fine when it is not attached to my computer and I get no error code when I do attach it.

Technician's Assistant: When did you last update the printer driver software?

I haven't. How do I do that?

Technician's Assistant: The Printer Technician will be able to walk you through that. Anything else you want the Printer Expert to know before I connect you?

Do you know whether the scanner's driver, of software, on your computer, might have been uninstalled?

Does the computer show any sign of acknowledging that the scanner is connected? if not:

Try a different USB port. They are supposed to all be alike, but sometime they aren't, and one may work where another does not. Also, mind that some (blue-centered) are different period.

Black-centered USB ports are USB 2., usually, and the blue-centered are USB 3., and it can make a difference.

Try a different USB cable. They are the part that almost the most often, goes bad - especially if used often before, over a year old, or often coiled up and uncoiled again (which places

repetitive strain on the wires inside the cable, somewhat invisibly from the outside.)

Unplug all other devices (that can be spared - excepting USB keyboard or USB mouse if any) - on any and all USB ports.

Do not use a USB hub.

Let me know how that goes. I may have more to suggest.

It might be that the scanner is defective in its USB port, or in a way that affects the USB port's response.

However... please tell me your Windows PC's Windows version: Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows 10, or Windows 8 ?

Then there may be no solution that is good and safe for Windows 10 and your Pandigital scanner, I'm sorry to have to say.

Now, how did you install it originally, and on what Windows version?

And did you then install it from a disc, or from a download?

It wasn't from a disc. I think it was a download when I plug everything in.
