On power-up, moto e2 proceeds normally until it should go to

Customer Question

on power-up, moto e2 proceeds normally until it should go to home scrren, but it goes blank. we tried the soft reset and nothing changed. weve tried multiple times - sometimes the screen will say device locked or safemode - but not every time.
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: motorola e2 android, one year old
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: started today - we received an automatic amber alert. the ok button on alert screen did nothing, so we turned it off and back on - we received the amber alert again and the screen went back to the alert rather than home screen. One of oir attempts to do a reset cleared the screen to black but no home screen.
JA: Anything else you want the Android expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Thanks for getting back to me;

Have you tried a factory reset?

  1. Firstly, swiitch off the phone by holding the Power button.
  2. Then press and hold the Volume Down key for about 2-3 seconds.
  3. While still holding this key press the Power button and release.
  4. Then choose option Recovery by using to navigate Volume Down, and to confirm the Volume Up.
  5. As soon as you see an Android logo press and hold the Volume Up for a while.
  6. While still holding the Volume Up button, press and release the Power button.
  7. Afterwards press the Volume Down to choose "wipe data/factory reset", and then push the Power button to confirm.
  8. Select "Yes--delete all user data". Use Volume Down button to scroll and Power button to select.
  9. To restart the phone, select "reboot system now".
  10. Success! The hard reset is done!
