Hi the keyboard on my Asus Tablet won't work. When I turn the tablet on, the screen keyboard is the only one that will work.
JA: How long has this been going on?
Customer: Several days now. I recharged both the tablet and the screen yesterday, so power isn't an issue.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Nothing because I'm not very technically competent!

This can be filter keys

Check your system tray for the stopwatch symbol (bottom right), double click it to go to the settings, and turn it off

Does it then work?

I can see you are a first time user to the site. What we do here is either a question and answer type of conversation or remote support where I would actually connect to the computer and have a look and attempt to fix the problem for you.

Remote support can save a lot of time if you are not comfortable performing repairs yourself. Sometimes even with instructions you can make a mistake and make things worse.

I will send an offer through for remote support and should you accept I will connect and see what is going on and fix the issue. Otherwise we can continue to talk like this but I will need to ask a number of other questions and try and walk you through some steps.

Both options are 100% guaranteed by the way. Remote is just quicker and avoids the risk of you making a mistake and doing something wrong.

Yesterday. It did it once before, but sorted itself out. This time it hasn't.

I want to do a system restore please.

To do this, close all programs.

Press the windows key + X and click on Control Panel

click System and Security

Then click on System

Then System Protection

Then System restore

Choose a date before this problem occurred.

Let it complete and tell me if it now functions correctly please

I think I'd better forget this. I'll wait 'til my son gets back from holiday and if he can't sort it out I'll be returning it to the company I bought it from. It's only a month old and obviously has a fault.Thanks anyway.

No, we can't do it right now because I don't know what I'm doing. I WAS working fine .... now it isn't. So it can go back.
