Its likely the software has dropped out on the kindle so please reset it by doing this first charge the kindle for 20 mins pref at a different power-point from one you have been using then hold down the on/off switch for 40 seconds (use a watch to time)then release your finger the kindle will reboot and reload the operating system and the kindle should then recharge OK, do this on and off the charger as necessary and upto 4 times if not succesful.
