Was there a combustion gas test taken before the head was removed? It would have told if there was combustion gases in the cooling system, from cracked head or head gasket. Was engine overheating? Was it loosing coolant? If you put radiator pressure tester on radiator, how quick did pressure start to build?
So it had no contamination in the oil. I would think the new head gasket and decking the head would take care of it.
