good afternoon my name is***** am a western plow dealer, how can i help you?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
We have a western Ultra mount probably about 15 years old but in excellent condition.
We have changed all fluids and cleaned the filters in it this weekend.
plows go every direction but left. cannot get it to move left at all. we checked the hydraulic hose for obstructions and it was completely empty so the fluid is not getting thru the pump into the hose.
Expert:  John Oliver replied 8 months ago.

when left is commanded does the pump run? or is completely dead?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
It runs but no fluid running through the hose

ok in order for left swing to happen S3 and S2 coils need to come alive. you should have a plastic cover over the solenoid pack. [email protected] and S3 are the 2 solenoids that are stacked on top of each other. make sure there grounded properly and are both getting 12 volts (check with a test light NOT and digital meter) 9 out of 10 times when this issue happens it is a bad coil, or a bad connection at the plug

attached is a link showing the coils to check

did that link work for you?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
S2 and s3 both magnetize when hitting the switch but still no left

possible to test with a test light?

Expert:  John Oliver replied 8 months ago.

poppet check valve would be my next stop. look at page 52 in the manual i sent.

you can have 9 volts at the coil and create magnitism but not have enough pull to open the coils. that is why i advise using a test light to verify voltage at the coils

you could also remove the S3 cartridge and verify that it is moving the valve inside. if you remove and reinstall the coil, hook to 12 volts you should hear and feel the little needle valve click and shuttle. on this older style you cant swap them around because all 3 of them are a little different. we know S2 is working because you have right tilt and S2 is in common with that. SO.... its a S3 issue or a poppet check valve stuck i would say
