I have a Deere tractor model#425. I was having trouble

Customer Question

I have a John Deere tractor model#425. I was having trouble starting it so i cleaned the battery terminals and jumped it with my car. It starts fine now and runs but as soon as i disengage the brake it stalls out. Any ideas?

Brake switch has two function, one is for start, other is for run, the run circuit is not complete. Be sure pto is off. But brake switch kills engine if it thinks the pto is on, or there is no one in the seat. Deere uses relay that can also be bad,
