Kubota m5040 *****lever is set to***** but front axle is still engaged??

The front drive is manually engaged. If you go to the lever at the end of the FWD linkage, can you feel the gear shifting? Is the lever tight on the shaft?

That's what I have to investigate tomorrow. It's basically a "pull up" for***** When you do this, the 4x4 light comes on. Problem is, when you push it back down it remains in 4wd. I plowed for about an hour with it in the 2wd position and it never came out of 4x4. It looks like I may have to pull the fuel tank to follow the linkage.

I thought maybe this could be a common problem with this particular tractor.

Not common, the usual problem is no FWD!

Ha... Just my luck. I'll try to get under it tomorrow. Hopefully the linkage is just loose. I bought it used and the guy didn't mention it.....imagine that. Happy with it otherwise. Thanks for the help
