The spindle does just have to be driven out from the top. Just be sure you have the woodruff key removed, then drive it out. It may be tight, but get a bigger hammer!
The upper link and the woodruff key is all that holds it. Is your spindle bent or damaged that you are replacing it? New bushings have to be reamed after installation if you think you want to replace them!

OK, that is what it will take!
The tip of the spindle broke off so off came the wheel and the tractor went down on its knees, so to speak.
Ok , just drive it out, and then check the lower thrust bearing, then install the new one.
Will do. Thank you. For what it is worth, the diameter of the metal out at the tip end sure does seem skimpy, especially for using a heavy bucket loader, but I'm no metallurgist.
Yes, not really made for using with front end loader. But they are tough old tractors. Good luck with it. Thank you.
