Is this the short cylinder with the valve on the side? The gland has to be tapped back into the tube to expose an internal snap ring, which has to be removed, with snap ring removed, then use the rod to tap the gland out the barrel.
Customer:
Short cylinder. Face plate has a couple holes in it for a spanner wrench. Side of cylinder has a small hole, and you can see the internal snap ring in the hole. I don't have a spanner wrench, but I can rotate the face plate with a hammer and punch.

Ok, you have to find the end of the wire through the side hole, catch the end of it and rotate the gland as you pull on the wire. The wire is feed in and out as gland is turned.
