2001 acura mdx no spark from coils. Seeing if I got spark…

Ok, we have a couple of fuses to check.

First, check fuse#11 in the fuse box under the dash on the driver side. If it's blown you won't get power to the coils.

If there isn't any power to that fuse, then check the 50 amp #42 in the fuse box under the hood.

Give these a look and let me know.

well, if you don't have power to the coils, you won't get spark. So check those fuses I mentioned and let me know.

Also, are you able to check it for codes with a code reader?

Check the wiring to the coils to make sure nothing is rubbing and grounding out. It could also be one of the coils themselves causing this so check and make sure none of them are blistered either.

See if the fuse will pop even if you just turn the ignition on. If it will, then you could try unplugging one coil at a time to see if one stops the fuse from blowing. You need to inspect the wiring harness right from the firewall out to the engine. Looking under the protective cover.

You're going to have to sorry to say. According to the fuse box this fuse only powers the coils, so that at least means it's got to be on that circuit

This wire comes out of the fuse box and to the coils I would be checking any place it's along the engine and the engine compartment to start with.

The computer doesn't have anything to do with it popping the fuse. This has got to be a short right to ground. Sorry I can't do more from here to help.

Can you use your meter and check it for continuity to ground?

You will have to unplug it from the fuse box, but it's got to be touching ground or a ground wire someplace to short like this andpop the fuse.

ok, sounds good I know its a royal pain, it's the reason we get so much time to dianose electrical problems!

The coils get one hot, one ground and one signal wire. The power is the black/yellow wire which comes directly off that fuse. That fuse get's power from the ignition switch and the 50 amp ignition fuse.

It's only powering up in start and run, once offt there shouldn't be any power. I am not showing that fuse to provide any power to anything else in the wiring diagrams I have.
