Acura Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hi Im David, thanks for visiting the site. when you turn the key on can you hear the fuel pump running for a few seconds?
ok, and you said that there is no check engine light that comes on when turning the key on?
ok, before you do anything else, remove the instrument cluster and check to see if there is a bulb there. if it is removed then the seller removed it which is illegal.
i will get you the procedure
without a check engine light bulb, do you get rpms while cranking?
ok, and the security light goes out while cranking?
yes, but without the pcm seeing the completed circuit through the check engine light bulb, you will always have issues.
do you have a noid light?
check for injector pulse
was this vehicle in running condition when you bought it?
ok, who did you buy it from? private party or dealer?
does it crank strong?
and you checked all cylinders for spark?
check the rear. i know easier said than done, but you aint going to start an engine on only 3 cylinders
put a new bulb in the check engine light hole
no, the bulb completes the readiness monitors
Hi, my name is ***** ***** I will assist you. Please give me a moment to catch up on what has been done already...
Ok, i see that you have checked for codes and there don't seem to be any...will your scanner allow you to see which I/M monitors have passed and which ones have not?
Ok. I feel like delving into the missing mil bulb may take us down the incorrect track so we will move on from here...but we may revisit it later
I will take it from here.
No problem, I didn't mean to intrude. Good luck, guys!
Just to let you know, without the check engine light bulb we will be beating our heads against the wall here.
very well, then the only thing left is checking compression. just to let you know, when a vehicle does have a check engine light bulb installed and the light doesnt come on when you turn the key to the run position, the computer is bad. So, if you still dont think the c.e.l. doesnt have anything to do with the vehicle starting, then ai would suggest to rethink that.
ok. let me know
ok, well we know thats not the problem, its looking like the computer more and more
hows it going?
have you done a fuel pressure leak down test?
try that and see how long it takes the pressure to bleed off.
dont forget to do a leak down test
ok good just let me know thanks
ok, thats not too bad.
ok, now with the check engine light finally working, have it scanned or codes.
if still no codes, replace the ecm
yes. you can buy one pre programmed ff of ebay
there is no way to test the ecm, you have fuel and injector pulse. you have spark. you have good compression. the theft light goes out while cranking, you have rpms while cranking. check these fuses. that's the last thing.
replace the computer.
itss very possible there is a gps hooked up to the vehicle and the shutoff is enabled.
recheck for fault codes.
let me know
