Locked out of your radio huh? I can help.

First we need to get the serial number from the radio display. What does the radio say right now?

How can I get the seria
Expert:  Jared D replied 10 months ago.

We can try to get it from the display, but it doesn't always work on vehicles before 2001. What does the radio say right now?

Expert:  Jared D replied 10 months ago.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Turn ON the device and confirm that the display reads COdE. If you don’t see this message, pull the battery cable for 1 minute, and then go back to step 1.

Turn OFF the device.

Press and hold the 1 and 6 radio preset buttons, and turn ON the device.

The display toggles between two screens: U with the first 4 digits of the serial number (U2200 for example,)

And L with the last 4 digits of the serial number (L0055 for example.)

Ignore the U and L and record all 8 digits

If this doesn't work, check for a sticker on the side of the glovebox. This may be your serial number.

If there isn't a sticker with the serial number then the radio has to come out to get the serial number off of the back.
