Customer Question

I have an 2003 Acura TL. It has been running great until about 3 weeks. on the way back from NC to FL it suddenly started running rough. The check engine light started blinking and the TCS light came on. AAfter returning home, I did some online research. The error message on my scanner reads P1399. As a result, I pulled off the top cover of the intake manifold to find the EGR ports totally clogged up with a black deposit. I cleaned this thoroughly with no improvement. I then changed the EGR valve with no improvement. So I'm stuck and need some professional assistance.
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: Engine light blinks. TCS light stays on.
JA: Are you fixing your TL yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Repairing myself. 2 steps taken are above.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not that I'm aware of.

first of all you need to clean the egr passages. the holes the the egr valve mounts on, but that usually doesnt fix this issue. you have a misfire. you also need to pull the throttlebody off and clean the heck out of the throttle plate. same with the idle air control valve. when was the last time the plugs were replaced?
