I just replaced the water pump and timing belt on an 04 MDX.

Customer Question

I just replaced the water pump and timing belt on an 04 MDX. When first started it ran for 2-3 seconds then died and would not start. Took it apart and checked timing which was off a little bit. Adjusted the timing and checked multiple times and was always dead on. Car will now start but will not idle or run at less than 1500-1700 rpm. Also has a odor when running. What do I need to look at now.

First step here is a compression test sounds like this has bent a valve. These are interface motors and bend Betty easy is the belt is off timing more then 1 tooth.
