MASTER TECH :

do you have the extension shaft pulled out from the diff ?

MASTER TECH :

did you pull the left inner axle shaft away from the oil pan ?

Customer:

yes to both questions

MASTER TECH :

how far is the extension shaft out ?

MASTER TECH :

I have had these get stuck on the dowel pins

Customer:

if you are talking about what I think you are..it's all the way out

MASTER TECH :

ok

MASTER TECH :

then this is stuck on the dowel pins then are you using a pry bar to pry it apart ?

MASTER TECH :

the rear section at the trans is the area that sticks

Customer:

yes

MASTER TECH :

ok

MASTER TECH :

is the rear section the issue ?

Customer:

yes

MASTER TECH :

ko

MASTER TECH :

you have the single 17mm bolt at the bottom out ?

MASTER TECH :

that has the shim

Customer:

it's out

MASTER TECH :

ok

MASTER TECH :

then use the pry bar in the rear to pop it out.

MASTER TECH :

I have had to use some force on these

MASTER TECH :

you should be able to get the bar in the rear section

Customer:

by doing that, do i risk breaking anything?

MASTER TECH :

no

MASTER TECH :

pry away from the block

Customer:

ok

MASTER TECH :

their is 2 long metal dowel pins

MASTER TECH :

these rust and will lock in the case and not allow the unit to come out easy

Customer:

in the front or back?

MASTER TECH :

back

MASTER TECH :

the affected area

MASTER TECH :

silly question but you got all the tops bolts out

Customer:

Does the sleeve that runs through the oil pan have to be moved?

MASTER TECH :

the extension shaft should be sticking out about 1.5-2"

Customer:

yes on top bolts

MASTER TECH :

I normally pull it out about 4 inches and let it hang

MASTER TECH :

ok

MASTER TECH :

on the extension shaft you should see the splines

Customer:

I can't get it to move

MASTER TECH :

whcih

MASTER TECH :

which

Customer:

on the sleeve

MASTER TECH :

ok the axle housing has the 3 12mm bolts

MASTER TECH :

you removed these already correct

Customer:

yes

MASTER TECH :

ok the main axle is out correct

Customer:

yes

MASTER TECH :

ok and the inner is still locked in the pan >

Customer:

yes

MASTER TECH :

ok use a small pry bar to pop it out

MASTER TECH :

it will leak some gear oil once it pops out

Customer:

ok

MASTER TECH :

carefully use a pry bar to do this.

Customer:

ok

MASTER TECH :

pry on both sides of the cup you will see some arrows also.

Customer:

ok

MASTER TECH :

this is the issue sounds like it

MASTER TECH :

your almost their. just forgot the inner axle shaft

Customer:

the inner axel shaft is out....there is a sleeve around that...about 1/4 in thick and as wide as the pan....does it have to be moved?

MASTER TECH :

not sure I follow you

MASTER TECH :

can you take a picture of this please

Customer:

no...no camera

MASTER TECH :

let me grab some the directions and we can use then to show me

Customer:

maybe it isn't a sleeve...could be part of the pan

MASTER TECH :

well if the inner axle is unbolted and not out of the oil pan then the axle is still locked in the diff

MASTER TECH :

you should see a o ring in the inner cup

Customer:

ok...so once that shaft is out then I am ready to pry on the diff?

MASTER TECH :

and oil will be leaking out

MASTER TECH :

yes

Customer:

ok

Customer:

does the cross member have to come off?

MASTER TECH :

no

Customer:

ok...good

Customer:

well....I guess that's all then

Customer:

i appreciate your help.

MASTER TECH :

hang on

Customer:

ok

MASTER TECH :

CLICK HERE for directions to remove the inner axle from the pan.

MASTER TECH :

be careful when prying on the ears or they will break.

Customer:

ok

MASTER TECH :

sounds like this will get you back on track

Customer:

that it?

MASTER TECH :

yes it should be

MASTER TECH :

providing you have all the other bolts out

Customer:

ok...thanks again

Customer:

wait

MASTER TECH :

your welcome I do ask that you please take a moment to leave me some feedback after the accept. Master tech

Customer:

is the 17mm bolt that you are talkong about about 5 in long?

MASTER TECH :

on the bottom no

Customer:

?

MASTER TECH :

about 3" and is facing the transmission

Customer:

ok....

MASTER TECH :

the 4 diff bolts yes they are about that long

Customer:

that's it

MASTER TECH :

2 on the top and 2 shorter ones on the bottom

Customer:

ok

Customer:

ty so much

MASTER TECH :

your welcome'

MASTER TECH :

have nice day
