Customer Question

I am using Quicken Essentials. On December 31st I attempted to download all information from my financial institutions and Quicken crashed. Tried many times over the weekend and today but Quicken crashes each time. I want to upgrade to Quicken 2016, but I need to close out 2015 first. What can I do?

There is no need to close out 2015 before you upgrade the quicken

it will pull in all of your data from the old version exactly as it was

otherwise if you really want to try to get the essentials working you can uninstall it by dragging it out of the application folder to the trash bin

then install it again

then open your data and see if it works

another possible fix is to remove the accounts from online update and then put them back in online update

or you might try loading a backup file

it all depends on where the error is and when it just crashes its almost impossible to tell.
