ok, do you recall making a backup? Where did you save it?

I tried opening the backup file and I get the same password XXXXX

I right clicked and opened. I was able to open a separate backup file that was backed up on an external drive 2 months ago. But I can't open the current file without getting the password XXXXX

ok, can you attempt this as we will try to repair the current data file.

In Quicken, click Click on the "File" button in Quicken.

Hover over the "File Operations" option.

Click "Validate" in the window that appears.

Click "OK" at the prompt and choose your current data file.

Once it has completed, try to open it and tell me please if you still get prompted for the password XXXXX

Quicken is unable to open the data file F:\Quicken\QDF


 


This date file is protected with a password. Choose File menu > Open to open the date file, enter the password, and then choose File menu > File Operations > Validate again

ok, then it is either been set with a password, or it is not repairable.

you need to find the latest backup that opens and use this sorry.

it is the only way to get your data back.
