I entered program Quicken Rental Property Manager for 2011,

last summer, but due to health problems was unable to finish and use. Is there a way to erase all the entry's and start this year Jan. 1, 2012? I need to start from the beginning.

we will need to decide if your needing to start completely over, or just making some changes to existing rent accounts so that you can start from fresh

I would recommend to simply open new rent accounts

You will need to perform a file backup before you start. This will protect you in the event you want to rescue older renter information, keep in mind the below is IF YOU WANT TO EDIT current rental files and tenants without having to start from fresh,

Working from the top most portion, you will want to verify and
* Check your property information and Tag. and make needed changes
* Check your tenant information., if the tenant has changed, then make changes
* The tenant should be linked to the correct property (Tag).
* CHANGE MOVE IN AND OUT DATES, so the rent center knows when a property is vacant or occupied. You should enter the correct monthly rate and terms. You may be able to fix the vacant months by just entering the previous tenant's move out date.
* Enter the current tenant's information including move in date and correct rate.
* Delete the incorrect rents from the register, to remove older transactions from the database etc.

*EACH year the rent amount changes, so that is something important to follow up on

*a lot of times, the tenant name stays the same, but the rental location address changes,

*if you know that a lot of the tenants still exist, it would save you alot of work with NOT starting from scratch, and if there has been alot of tenant departures, then it would be a great idea to start from scratch, either way, im here to assist you

. I wondered about doing that, making new accounts but how do I get all the old figures from the books. In otherwords, I need to do the banks, check's, billing accounts to all start Jan. 1, 2012. It would be very dificult for me to reconcile the figures. does that make sense? I have kept books for a long time, but never in the last 50 years started from scratch, always has another person to do that & end of the year for me. Sorry, as you can tell not very computer literate. We sold some property last year, so can eliminate some, but really always just used my check book on the rentals, end of year was torture for me and accountant.
So am working on getting it straight as she is getting old and so am I. Does this make sense, also would apreciate it on the e-mail, it helps me to read it over. Thanks

That is true, so I now have the end of year taxes done, both personal, which includes 2 rentals, several pieces of property's, plus a small resort, (hoping for sale soon). The resort was separate taxes, but I can do it as a rental. So would like to start fresh. Right now, my husband is in a nursing home w/stroke, my children are helping me get things straight. I am really determined to get this done. My daughter started this last summer, I did not keep it up.
