I have been using quicken since 1988 but I don't think I established a Quicken account.

Now unlocking typically allows you to upgrade to a more powerful version of Quicken without paying for the entire new program.

So if you want to just use the basic Starter features, then you shouldn't need to unlock it.

But the program insists that I unlock and won't let me work wit my Quicken files until I do. A consultant set up my new computer and installed Quicken. When asked to register, he clicked on "not now, later" I can't find a serial number on the installation disk or on the box.

VerifiedYou have to contact Quicken via email. Here is the link. They will email you a link to download a version that does not require an unlock code.
You may also try the online unlock tool. This will help if you have the original cd with the serial numbers. I'm not sure if it will work for 2010.
