Ron, ASE Certified Technician
Expert on JustAnswer since 2007

"I got into medicine in order to help people and JustAnswer allows me to help so many more people, on a much larger scale. I would not have been to help such a varied group of patients by simply working in a single hospital over the years. The customers on JA are simply the best!"

Dr. Muneeb Ali, Doctor
Expert on JustAnswer since 2009

"Computers and tech are easy for me and JustAnswer gives me the opportunity to make it easy for others. It makes me really happy to get someone's computer working again."

Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician
Expert on JustAnswer since 2010

"I love working on JustAnswer and cannot name just one thing I enjoy the most, the flexibility, the satisfaction of a customer saying that I was very helpful, the extra income for my family, the teamwork from other Experts on the site, it truly is a great site and I'm lucky to be a part of it. I love helping people on JustAnswer for the simple reason that in the automotive world there is so much misinformation on the web that costs customers hundreds if not thousands of unnecessary dollars, that I can inform them properly with factory info and real world hands on experience and lead them in the right direction, if not help fix the issues at hand, and you cannot put a value on that."

Lou P., Master Technician
Expert on JustAnswer since

"I love getting to help people every day, at any hour! People from all over the world come to me with questions, seeking advice! Not everyone has access to doctors who are genuinely interested in listening and helping, and that's what I love most! I love being a sounding board for worries or questions or curious minds!"

JustAnswer has given me money, learning opportunities, professional recognition and satisfaction, and many new friends and colleagues."

Dr. Arun Phophalia, Surgeon

"I love working with people on JustAnswer because I get to spend a lot of time with each person and really get to the bottom of the question."

Dr. K, Board Certified OB/GYN

Dr. Muneeb Ali, Doctor
Expert on JustAnswer since 2009

"Since the invention of the internet, the world became a much smaller place. It is a privilege to be part of the JustAnswer team since it allows me to help and guide clients anywhere in the world, especially when they are in a remote area without a veterinarian. The joy to be able to assist people (pet owners, animal lovers) whenever possible and provide my advice and support to the best of my knowledge is one of the most fulfilling experiences I have ever felt as a veterinarian."

Dr. Peter, Veterinarian
Expert on JustAnswer since 2009

"JustAnswer provides me with a unique opportunity to help a large number of people and the pets they love. Trying to help pet owners with whatever issues or concerns they might have is tremendously rewarding and satisfying on many levels."

Dr. Deb, Veterinarian
Expert on JustAnswer since 2011

"When people who are worried about their pets come to JustAnswer I think of how much my dog Ilsa means to me. Then I give my best answer, by telling concerned pet owners what I would do in their situation for my own beloved pets."

Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian
Expert on JustAnswer since 2008

"As a dedicated small animal vet I have spent my whole career helping people with their much loved pet's health problems and I am very glad of the opportunity JustAnswer gives me to continue to do so online. But it is not all one sided, researching the answers I give helps keep me up to date and abreast of the latest developments in my field."

Donald, Small Engine Technician

"I really enjoy helping people particularly when they are in a bind, like the guy in Alaska with no heat, it's 30 below and the nearest repair guy is 200 miles away by plane!"

Rick, HVAC Supervisor
Expert on JustAnswer since 2005

"As an expert in the appliance category I get to help customers save money on unnecessary service calls and overpriced parts which for me makes being a member of the JustAnswer community a very rewarding experience."

Joel Swenson, Owner, Scott's Appliance Repair

Legal Opinion Regarding Mexican Immigration

I wish I had made this connection before I took my cat to the vet!

"The response to my questions was immediate and the phone consultation with Dr. Lori allowed me to have all my questions answered. Going forward, I knew what course to take concerning my cat's health, and felt much more confident in her explanation than I did the vet that I had taken my cat to previously. I wholeheartedly recommend JustAnswer if you don't know where to turn or what to ask. Dr. Lori was very knowledgeable and kind. Thank you."

My cat has been vomiting intermittently last few days. Today vomited hours after eating rather than immeditely. She is lethargic and vomits periodically but now nothing in her stomach.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about your cat?
Customer: She has been very healthy. Breathing does not appear to be compromised. I have an appointment for her next week but fear that is too far away. I am just worried in case inflammation occurs.

Hi again,Thank you for your patience. There are a number of things that could be going on here with your girl to cause this ongoing vomiting this evening and over the last few days, and we need to consider anything from an infectious gastroenteritis, to a toxicity (hopefully there isn't anything your girl could have gotten into), to intestinal worms or even a foreign body obstruction (which is a concern given the gap between eating and vomiting now). You will definitely need to continue to keep a close eye on your girl, and if this vomiting continues, then you will need to get her seen by your local ER vet tonight. For now, make sure your girl has plenty of fresh water available and encourage her to drink. The biggest concern right now is that she could become dehydrated. If she won't drink or can't keep water down, then you are best to get her seen by your local ER vet tonight where they can start her on some intravenous (IV) fluids. You can with hold her food until the morning now, and from then you can start her on a bland diet of cooked, boneless, skinless chicken breast and boiled white rice. Don't worry about getting her to eat tonight, but definitely encourage her to drink now and over night. If she isn't interested in drinking, then you could try making her up a fresh chicken broth. For this, just boil up some fresh chicken until cooked, scoop off the solids, allow the liquid to cool, then feed her this luke-warm broth.Over the next few hours, please keep an eye on her mucus membranes, capillary refill time and respiratory rate tonight as follows (do be careful that your girl doesn't try to bite you):Mucus membranes - flip her lip and look at the color of her gums. They should maintain a nice salmon pink color. Get her to the emergency Vet if they appear white or very pale pink, or if they are a dark deep red color.Capillary Refill time - this measures blood perfusion and test this by putting your thumb on her gum to apply pressure. After you release your thumb you will see the gum blanch. Capillary refill time is the amount of time it takes (in seconds) for the gum to return to a healthy pink color from the blanched white color. If 2 seconds or less don't worry - if it is taking significantly more time, again - off to the emergency Vet.Respiratory Rate - if she seems to be panting or breathing rapidly throughout the night, this is a sign of shock and or pain and a signal for a trip to the emergency Vet.Best of luck with your girl and hopefully these symptoms settle in the next few hours. As above, if she can't keep water down, or if any of the parameters above don't seem right, then definitely play it safe and get her seen tonight. I hope all of the above makes sense? If you have more questions or if I can help in any other way, please do not hesitate to ask! If you would like to accept my answer, please press RATE OUR CONVERSATION (I am not compensated in any other way). Bonuses are always welcome. Thanks! I hope to work with you again soon!Kind Regards,Dr EPS: If you have additional questions after you rate the question, you are welcome to request me for additional conversations if I am on-line or by beginning your question "Dr. E..." or "Pet-doc..." and others will leave the questions for me.

My 12 week-old kitten received leukemia vaccine this morning. They told me he would be lethargic and not have an appetite, so I wasn't worried when he slept all day. He has started eating a bit when I brought him food, but just now when he got up to use the litter box, he is trying to not put weight on his back right leg (site of the injection) and he cries.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help the kitten. Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about the kitten?
Customer: I'm more worried about him trying to not put weight on his back left leg (site of the injection) ... I was mixed up when I said right, and how he is crying.

Hi there, Thank you for your question regarding your kitten who has had some lethargy and some pain in his left hind leg after his vaccination this morning. This isn't uncommon with this vaccination, along with the lethargy, to have some localised swelling and pain at the site of the injection. If your boy is particularly painful on this left hind limb when he's walking, then you may need to get some feline metacam from your local vet or ER vet overnight. Hopefully he is generally ok getting around however, and only non-weight bearing on it now and then. In case he is having more of a reaction than usual, over the next few hours, please keep an eye your boy's mucus membranes, capillary refill time and respiratory rate tonight as follows (do be careful that your boy doesn't try to bite you):Mucus membranes - flip his lip and look at the color of his gums. They should maintain a nice salmon pink color. Get him to the emergency Vet if they appear white or very pale pink, or if they are a dark deep red color.Capillary Refill time - this measures blood perfusion and test this by putting your thumb on his gum to apply pressure. After you release your thumb you will see the gum blanch. Capillary refill time is the amount of time it takes (in seconds) for the gum to return to a healthy pink color from the blanched white color. If 2 seconds or less don't worry - if it is taking significantly more time, again - off to the emergency Vet.Respiratory Rate - if he is continuously panting or open mouth breathing at all tonight, this is a sign of shock and or pain and a signal for a trip to the emergency Vet. Hopefully he just settles and sleeps now, but if he can't settle and seems very painful, then do get him to a local ER vet tonight for assessment and pain relief. I hope all of the above makes sense? If you have more questions or if I can help in any other way, please do not hesitate to ask! If you would like to accept my answer, please press RATE OUR CONVERSATION (I am not compensated in any other way). Bonuses are always welcome. Thanks! My dog is panting and shaking. This is not normal behavior for him. Do I need to take him to an emergency vet?

Hi again,Thank you for your patience. As you can imagine, there are a range of possible causes for your boy's panting and shaking including anything from a behavioral/anxiety issue, to a primary cardiorespiratory problem, or even due to trauma and pain. You will need to keep a close eye on him for this reason, and if his panting doesn't settle in the next 15 - 20 minutes, I would definitely recommend and ER visit. If he does settle, then over the next few hours, please keep a close eye on his mucus membranes, capillary refill time and respiratory rate as follows:Mucus membranes - flip his lip and look at the color of his gums. They should maintain a nice salmon pink color. Get him to the emergency Vet if they appear white or very pale pink, or if they are a dark deep red color.Capillary Refill time - this measures blood perfusion and test this by putting your thumb on his gum to apply pressure. Hello, my dog is dry heaving a lot. Acting to wanting to throw up but can't. Goes on when he is really excited. Last for about 25 mins then goes away. Comes back from time to time. I'm worried. He's a pit. 2yo
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did your pit eat anything unusual?
Customer: Maybe a rope toy he loves. It triggered when a friend came over and he got super excited. Lost his breathe almost. Since then he's been having episodes. He hasn't thrown anything up. Still is active. Eats and drinks as usual.
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about your pit?
Customer: No mamm. Just now he woke up out of his sleep and had a little episode. I had to calm him down and he's fine now. Normally happens when he's running.

Hi again,Thank you for your patience. There are a number of things that could be going on here with your pit boy this evening to cause this dry heaving, and we need to consider anything from an infectious gastroenteritis, to a toxicity (hopefully there isn't anything he could have gotten into), to intestinal worms or even a foreign body obstruction. You will definitely need to continue to keep a close eye on your boy, and if this dry heaving behavior continues, then you will need to get him seen by your local ER vet tonight. For now, make sure your pit boy has plenty of fresh water available and encourage him to drink. The biggest concern right now is that he could become dehydrated. If he won't drink or can't keep water down, then you are best to get him seen by your local ER vet tonight where they can start him on some intravenous (IV) fluids. You can with hold his food until the morning now, and from then you can start him on a bland diet of cooked, boneless, skinless chicken breast and boiled white rice. Don't worry about getting him to eat tonight, but definitely encourage him to drink now and over night. If he isn't interested in drinking, then you could try making him up a fresh chicken broth. For this, just boil up some fresh chicken until cooked, scoop off the solids, allow the liquid to cool, then feed him this luke-warm broth.Over the next few hours, please keep a close eye on his mucus membranes, capillary refill time and respiratory rate as follows:Mucus membranes - flip his lip and look at the color of his gums. If 2 seconds or less don't worry - if it is taking significantly more time, again - off to the emergency Vet.Respiratory Rate - if he is continuously panting throughout the night, this is a sign of shock and or pain and a signal for a trip to the emergency Vet. As his dry heaving is likely due to nausea, you may also want to try him with a little pepcid. The typical dose for this type of situation is 0.25mg per pound of body weight up to twice daily. You can read more about the use of Pepcid in dogs online here: http://www.petplace.com/article/drug-library/library/over-the-counter/famotidine-pepcidBest of luck with your boy and hopefully these symptoms settle in the next few hours. As above, if he can't keep water down, or if any of the parameters above don't seem right, then definitely play it safe and get him seen tonight.I hope all of the above makes sense? For Dr. Love only,Does the fact that sometimes I have stools that are just 1 inch around mean that the rectum has cancer in it, and is perceiving itself to be full early? this used to happen a lot.

Yes, I am sure that this does not sound like rectal cancer.

My husband is 56..just diagnosed with prostate CA. 1 of 12 specs was cancerous. His Gleason score was 90% 3 and 10% 4. I know the best option for him is surveillance but he has a very strong genetic hx of cancer. His dad had a prostatectomy around age 60. We do not know what stage he was at. A year later was diagnosed with myodysplastic leukemia and ultimately passed away from that at age 62. My husband's PSA is under 10. What would you recommend as a treatment?

he should talk to his doctor about Oncotype Dx genetic testing for his prostate cancer biopsy to check for systemic relapse risk of his prostate cancer.if he has a high chance of his prostate cancer coming back, he should get treatment like with radiation therapy or surgery to remove his prostate glandif he has a low recurrence risk, he can continue to do active surveillance.let me know if you have other questions.if done for now, please leave Positive Rating of 5 stars so I can get credit for helping you todaywe only get credit for helping clients after positive feedbackyou may have to scroll up or down to see the ratings areayou can always reach me directly with "a question for Dr. David" in the medicine or oncology categories if you have other questionshere is my website if you need to reach me:http://www.justanswer.com/medical/expert-dr-david/Thanks for using JustAnswers.com

My son has been having a dry cough for a few days. At night he coughs and it sounds like he gp vomiting but only a small teaspoon full of saliva will come out. This morning I noticed red under his right eye and it seems like every time he has a fit of coughs the red increases. It looks like swelling may be forming under the eyelid now.
JA: Any recent injuries? How long have you been dealing with the swelling?
Customer: The swelling just started after his cough 2 minutes ago. He has been coughing for a week.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: Nothing else.

A friend (?) has sent me a text message saying she was charged with drug offences at a Queensland Police Station on 20/7/17 and is seeking financial assistance. My response was send me copies of charge sheets as I have doubts as to validity, but so far have not seen documentation. How do I legally find out if charges were actually laid?
JA: Since laws vary from place to place, what state is this in? And when did this happen?
Customer: Queensland (Petrie Police Station?) on 20/7/17.
JA: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: Not sure - word of mouth only by person who says she was charged?
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not really, I need to know whether charges are legitimate before I commit funding and can you say if & what costs I may incur (just to see see if charges have in fact been laid), please
JA: You just pay a $5 deposit now and the rest only when you get a reply from the Lawyer. All of this is 100% satisfaction guaranteed, so you can get a refund if you're not happy for any reason.
Customer: Are costs likely to exceed, say $100.00 ?

Dear customer, the first option that you can do is call the Petrie Police Station ask to speak to the desk sergeant, and raise your question in relation to your friend. if you are told your friend is in a holding cell or has been charged, also ask for the sergeants badge number. The police office does not have to send you a charge sheet by email or facsimile, unless you are the legal representative. If you are not in the location of Petrie Police Station and cannot attend to ask the question, I recommend before any action is taken further, you contact a solicitor on Monday to contact the police station to clarify the details of the matter.Kind regards John Melis
