Okay thanks

you welcome

you will need a factory scanner or equivalent to run a diagnostic scan & retrieve fault codes from the all the modules in the vehicle.
can you get that done and post the results back here and we can continue trouble shooting, the scan will narrow it down for us .

most common cause

1- ckp crank shaft position sensor

2- mass air flow sensor

3- ignition module

4- fuel pressure needs checking

what is the mileage on the car

does the check engine light starts flashing before it dies on you

Please let me know

Thank You

171,000 and no the check engine light doesn't flash

The ckp sensor , crank shaft position sensors will cause it to do that with out throwing a fault code

i cant confirm it for you , usually we hook up a scope and test the signal for intermittent loss , and that explain the intermittent start

also the wiring to it the connector look at any backed out pins making a poor contact.using mass air flow sensor cleaner ,buy friom any local parts store

i would test my fuel and clean my mass air flow sensor

Please let me know

Thank You
