Customer Question

When I release the handbrake, the radio turns off.
JA: Is this an aftermarket stereo, or did it come with the car?
Customer: Came with car-monsoon
JA: What is the model/year of your VW?
Customer: 2003 Passat
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Replacing the radio fuse. Got radio working. Then this strange thing with the handbrake started.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Previous to radio issue, I replaced a fuse for the parking light and it shorted out the fuse so I have not fixed that.

When I pull the handbrake back up, the radio comes on.

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose) I prefer to work when others don't, I am here around lunch and after dinner till after midnight.

Does the brake effect the power on fuse 37 under the left side of the dash?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
It doesn't blow the fuse, if that's what you mean. Some additional details discovered: the radio switches off when I turn the headlights on as well.

Does this fuse retain power when tested with the brake on and off and the headlights on and off?
