Customer Question

Check engine light. Came on. Just had oil change which usually works but light came back on after 3 days
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: Stays on
JA: What is the model/year of your VW?
Customer: 2004 bettle
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Moved from pa-I cannot fix. As I said-changed oil and filter. Had the timing belt and water pump changed in the spring of this year
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: No except it has been in the 90's here in Florida

hi there,

im cam, a licenced diagnostic tech.

the next step is to scan the vehicle and retrieve the trouble code.

if you do not have scanner, than most of the larger parts stores will scan your car for free.

once you have the code I can point you in the right direction!

Could it just be a faulty sensor?
Expert:  camerontech replied 6 months ago.

it could be something as simple as a fuel cap to a faulty sensor.
generally a faulty sensor would be giving you some running issues . the computer is pretty sensitive and if any of the sensors or other solenoid values are off, it will store a code
