Daughter has a 2001 VW Beetle. Trunk lock system stopped

Customer Question

Daughter has a 2001 VW Beetle. Trunk lock system stopped working, will not respond to switch on driver door or key in lock on truck cover. Removed interior trunk lock cover (large black plastic sheild). Noticed a white plastic control/device box which had a loose lid. When lid was compressed, device and lock worked. Applied a wire tie to keep lid in placxe and worked well by key and drive door switch. Then suddenly stopped 2 days later and does not seem to respond??
Help please.
