i just paid to have the brakes changed on my daughters vw beetle 2003
on the way home she says now she has to pump the clutch to take it out of 5th gear
also the brakes need a slight pump to start

Hello, Welcome to Just Answer.

There must be air in the brake system. One will have to bleed the bake system and the clutch system. They both work from the same fluid reservoir and the level must be low causing it to have sucked air into the system.
