2004 vw jetta 1.8 turbo...when I accelerate from a dead stop, there seems to be some hesitation for throttle response...once my rpms reach above 2000, it gets up and goes...what would cause this?

Welcome to just Answer.
This can be a air/vacuum leak. Check all the vacuum pipes, intake manifold pipes throttle valve gasket manifold gasket anywhere and all the connection to the manifold system.
The fault has to be lock within these suggestions but should you need more information do not hesitate to ask.
Greetings,
Martin.
