Volkswagen Jetta wagon TDI: Hey Eric, E-85 Ethanol was

This answer was rated:

Hey Eric,
E-85 Ethanol was put into a 2011 jetta TDI wagon,. The tank was empty and now full. My wife drove it about 200 feet and it quit. We towed it to a local garage tonight and will drain lines, replace filters, and empty tank,. Any other suggestions you might have?

The in tank pump needs to be removed and cleaned and then tested. It may have failed due to the E85.

The inline aux fuel pump should be removed and flushed separately from the lines.

Fiinally, the injector pump should be flushed thoroughly. if not done, this could fail and is an extremely high price repair

Ok thanks, XXXXX XXXXX need to drop the tank? or pull any injectors? and finally what is a rough cost or hours of this,.

Thanks Eric.

Ok, for the in tank pump, remove the rear seat bottom and there is an access panel there to remove the pump.

the aux pump is next to the fuel filter

for the injection pump and injectors, the line is disconnected and machine hooked up to it and flush the pump and injectors.

Labor time for all this should be 2.6 hours, about $260 total

Thanks again,. Reading in the internet you get the horror stories,

It can be a horror story if not flushed and pumps cleaned. A failed injector pump will run about $2600 parts and labor, so it is a matter of flushing all three pumps, the injectors, the lines and replacing the filter.

Hope your week gets better.

please remember to rate service. thanks
