Customer Question

2002 vr6 n24valve gti. trans was rebuilt 35K ago. trans will not shift into 5th or 6th gear. At mech now, replaced 2 bushings on ends of 2 cables. Looked inside where these connect and doesnt see anything wrong. Measured cable lenths tio confirm problem is not linkage.
I think linkage problem, hes saying trans problem, inside trans??

Thx

Welcome to Just Answer!!!

If you remove the cables off the top off the trans where they connect into the trans can you manually shift into 5 and 6th th gear right at the top of the trans ??

Customer replied 267 days and 12 hours ago.

If you cant shift into 5ht nor 6th w cables off problem is inside trans.

Customer replied 267 days and 12 hours ago.

Ok if it wont shift into 5th or 6th with the cables off then your issue is inside the transmission a internal trans issue . I hope this helps.

Please dont forget to provide POSITVE feedback for my time and knowledge thank you !!
