Volkswagen 2007 4Motion Passat: I have a 2007 Passat 4Motion

Customer Question

I have a 2007 Passat 4Motion 3.6--replacing battery in trunk...have heard that I sould mess up the computer settings...is this true? Disconnected the negitive for one hour whlie eating lunch, now about to drop in new battery and rehook up...will I have problems with fault clears or basic settings? It would be ok to clear a current fault since I just had a break job and the parking fault came on, had it looked at and needed some adjustment but the guy did not have the equiment to clear the fault...will this battery change clear the fault?

No you will have no issues . Just after install battery start the vehicle and let it run at idle until the cooling fan cycles 3 times this will establish base idle. Then take it for a normal test drive and this will establish shifting points. You will have no other issues . Please rate excellent service so I get credit for my help anything lower then ok service gives me negative feedback and I do not get compensated for my time thanks . If you need further assistance just let me know.

The second question was on the fault issue...blinking yellow parking light button, red BRAKE flashing in instrument cluster as well as the yellow P for parking break fault. They just came on yesterday, brought it in this a.m. to a break guy and told me breaks were a little out of adjustment, but did not have they computer to clear the code, now that the battery is replaced and car is running the parking fault is still there...any ideas? Car runs down the road fine, no gripping, just the ding of the fault warning

Ok that issue is with the parking brake switch itself is damaged or the wiring to the parking brake . This will need to be checked next for that issue . A shop with a Vag Com scanner can pull codes from the brake controller to be sure but that's the most common issue. Please rate excellent service so I get credit for my help anything lower then ok service gives me negative feedback and I do not get compensated for my time thanks . If you need further assistance just let me know.
