Hello there! I'm Eurocar ! I will try to assist you as much as I can. Quality research = Quality answer!!
does this happen when the engine is warm and on the freeway
fyi 4 speed auto you have
yes. when you approach 70 mph im running 3200 on my tach and if I go 75 mph the Tach starts jumping.
ok and how about the speedo does it read higher than usual?
was there a code for crank sensor stored?
Also will do it in neighborhood if I keep tranny in say 2nd gear and slowly let the rpm come up, as soon as its gets into the 3200 range it starts jumping. but the car is not surging or hesitating. The speedo seems to be corrects. and no code for for Crank sensor,
However I was using a generic OBD Reading and Have a Ross Tech VAG Com on the way. should have this week.
if you remove a spark plug is the plug black covered in soot or white soot
vag com will be needed
I was planning today to remove, inspect & replace plugs and wire. I don't this car has had a good tune up in a while.
please also remove the air box and the tube feed for the air box and clean the screen in the tube
Ok will do. Do you know which sensor actually give RPM Raw data to ECM? or are there several sensors that report this data to ECM. I see there is a CAM, Crank, and engine Speed Sensors on my diagram.
crank sensor is the main sensor!!! for the tach
Ok good to know. One last question different subject. Is the normal RPM on the highway supposed to be around 3100-3200 at 70 MPH. It seems a liitle high like maybe overdrive is not available, but Its been a long time since I have driven a 4 cyl.
80 mph = 4000 rpm
so 70mph 3200 rpm is about right
Ok sounds good. Thank you. I will try the things you suggested and see what happens. So you have any other suggestions before we end the chat?
no at this time need to check the basics
Will do. I'm new to the "Just Answer" thing. So I guess i go try these things and there is a way for me to get in contact with you again??
just request Eurocar and i will get back with you!!
Thanks have a great day!
sure you too!
