I have a 2005 wv jettatwo of my power locks dont work, the other two are operational as usual. I dont hear any growning or anything they just dont lock/unlock. when I use the hey they work just fine. so my guess is that the problem is not mechanical. could it be a bad actuator?

Which doors are not working ?Are there any added electronics to the vehicle?
the two doors that are not working are the ones on the driver side. I have never added any electronics or any equipment to this car. I am the original owner. the problem started with the door behind the driver's I would intermittently dont work until eventually it stopped working all together then a few months after that the driver's door did the same thing.
Has the drivers door lock actuator been checked? Also there are no other issues beside the door locks failing correct?
I the actuator has never been checked. this is the only issue with my car, everything else is fully functional. is there a different actuator per door? do I need to pull the door appart to check the actuator?
Yes there is an actuator for each door .But the drivers door actuator sends the signal to the other doors to operate correctly .Check the drivers door harness these are very common to have broken wires of the wires are all ok then you will need to replace the drivers side door latch actuator. These are the next steps to fix this issue.Hoped this helped.Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.
sorry for my poor vocabulary, but I dont know what is a door harness and where to find it to check for broken wires. do I need to pull the door appart to get to the harness? can you provide some pictures to illustrate?
You need to check where the harness goes into the door from the drivers side dash with the drivers door open you will see the harness by the door check .This link will show you everything.ClickHereHoped this helped.Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.Cardoctor7441026.6924754282
you gave me the link for a 2005.5 jetta which is a newer body than my 2005 jetta, my car is more like any other 2000 to 2005 jetta, can you please give me the corresponding link for my vehicle?another question is that I looked up the 2000- 2005 vw jette front power door lock actuator and latch assembly it is a big part that costs about $160. my guess is that this part does a lot more than moving the power lock, do you know if this is one of those big parts where the whole thing needs to be replaced even when the malfunction is in a small component inside? or can it be pull appart to replace whatever the internal piece is broken?
No its the entire piece is incorporated. You will need to replace the entire piece latch and actuator unfortunatley .The link shows where to check the wire harness thats what I was posting so you can see .Its the same spot on your car. There is no need to remove the door panel.Hoped this helped.Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.
one more question before I accept your answer, thank you for being so patient with me :)can you give me the link on a website where I can find the steps to remove the door panel to replace the actuator?
