Customer Question

2001 vw jetta vr6 125,000 miles automatic. I sometimes park on a slight incline. Twice when starting the check engine light comes on and it feels like the transmission is slipping (slightly higher revs than normal/ sluggish accelleration) After driving for about 2 hours the check engine light clears and the car behaves as normal. Any ideas? Should I go purchas an engine and powertrain warrany right away?

Welcome to Just Answer!!!

Have you had the faults checked yet in the transmission control module ??

Customer replied 357 days and 18 hours ago.

No I have not. Should they still be there if the check engine light clears? Do I need a Vw dealer to check or any generic scan tool?

Yes they will still be in the trans module even if the light is off you need to have a shop with a capable scan tool most shops dont have the scan tool to do this you may have to go to a vw scan tool facility . This needs to be the first step you take . I hope this helps.
