how do you collapse the piston on the rear brake caliper on 07 volkswagon gli, piston goes in ok on front but not on rear calipers?

The piston on your 2007 has to be screwed in with a special tool that you can usualy rent from your local part store if you do not have one. It gord in by turning it clockwise.
