There isn't a dipstick on any VW auto trans after 1996. You have to remove the red cover from the fill tube at the front of the trans right above the pan. Then you start the car, remove the 5mm allen plug from the bottom of the trans and add fluid until it comes from the hole in the bottom of the pan. Then you wait until it stops pouring out and just drips and cap the pan back up.

The car must be cold from sitting overnight. And you have to get the fluid from the dealer or on the internet.
