Which side is O/S?
Is it the left front (L/F), right front (R/F), left rear(L/R) or right rear (R/R)?

Customer replied 1228 days and 18 hours ago.

O/S is Offside, which is the right handside front hub.

If it was a wheel bearing it should make more noise when turning left if it is increasing the load on the bearing on the right. So the one you replaced is on the correct side of the car.

This generation of golfs has problems with both the front and rear wheel bearings. But more often it is the rear wheel bearings. With the rear end raised there should be little to no play in the bearings. If there is play it is worth removing the drum/disc and inspecting the bearings.

If nothing is found with the rear bearings another thing to try is to rotate the front to back. If the noise changes you know it is a problem with the tires.

Thanks for your swift response, I'll take a look at rear bearing the weekend. Many thanks.
