Key wont turn in the ignition, 2000 passat

Customer Question

key won't turn in the ignition, 2000 passat

First I would make sure it is the correct key. I know it sounds stupid but I have seen a few people pickup the wrong key and find that it doesn't work. Just check and make sure it works in the drivers door. If it does then it sounds like you need a new ignition switch. The ignition just wears out, it sounds like you have tried everything that I would.

Good to get confirmation that there's no additional "tricks" to try.

No nothing more than just jiggling and wiggling.
