2000 Passat. turn signals not working. Emergency flashers only work occasionally. Changed out all bulbs with new. Any suggestions other than disassembling the steering wheel column to get at the integral turn signal/flasher switch? thanks

The flasher switch is actually the hazard switch in the dashboard and it has more than likely failed, it's pretty common. It simply pulls straight out of the dash, you may need to use an L shaped pick tool.
