Oil leak..1.8T..camshaft position sensor..most likely cause

This answer was rated:

What is most likely source of oil leak from top front area of 1.8T AEB engine? I notice oil seeping from the exposed part of the camshaft position sensor, enough to be easily noticed. What could I expect in labor and parts to fix what you believe is most likely cause? This is a 99 VW Passat, manual trans, 85,000 miles.

This could be your valve cover gasket or possible a front cam seal leaking inside the housing for the camshaft sensor. You might want to look at the back of the engine and see if there is oil leaking on to the bell housing of the transission. The cam adjuster seal is a very common leak back there.
