2001 volkswagen beetle: internal hood latch

internal hood latch off 2001 volswagon beetle broke. Is there a way to pop hood from the outside and how?

How did the hood latch break?

did the Black Hood pull break off?

is the hood latch itself siezed? i need more info to give you any further help.

if you can pop the hood open a few inches, you should be able to see the hook on the latch itself that needs to pushed towards the driver side of the car. its a bit tricky but with someone elses hands to hold a light on the latch while you grab a long screwdriver to push the latch over the hood should open up.
