Ok i have a 99 beetle, it is having elecrtical issues after disconnecting an old amplifier power cable.. help please. The remote unlock is intermittently workin the headlights one doesnt come on half the time, the brake lights also work intermittently. All i did was disconnect a amlfier power line that was attached to the battery from a previous owner, that seemed to be bogging down the engine a bit, the lights would dim when in idle. Disconnecting it seemed to help the power issue till all these started. Should i reconnect it? It also reset the radio to SAFE when i disconnected it from the battery. any suggestions?39542.6544249653
Optional Information: 1999 Volkswagen beetle ??Already Tried: un seated and reseated duses for the brake lights, no fuses are blown though.
I really dont think that they are all related, first the headlight probally has a bad harness inside, we see this a lot on the early Beetle, you would have to remove the headlight and check the bulb and harness inside the headlight. The harness is available by itself you do not need to replace the complete headlight. Now for the brake ligths there is a recall for this issue, please send me your VIN and I will run it to check for any open recalls. Now the door lock is a separate issue which would require further inspection. More than likely you have a bad door lock/switch. As for the radio you need the unlock code, if you do not have it, I can get it but will need the serial number off the radio, you will have to pull the radio and on the side is the serial number starts with something like VWZ4Z.
