My 2011 S60 T6 makes a loud humming when I'm decelerating -

Customer Question

HI
JA: Hello. What seems to be the problem?
Customer: my 2011 S60 T6 makes a loud humming when I'm decelerating - in particular when it gets to 40MPH and slightly below. The car has always been loud but I think it's gotten louder
JA: Are you fixing your S60 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I recently took it for regular maintenance. Tires are good (Continentals) oil is fine... never had an issue with anything else.... Volvo took care of it for me for the first 60k miles. I'm at 84K now.
JA: When was your last oil change?
Customer: one month ago
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: nope, thx

Hi, I'm Ron and I will be helping you today.
Stand by for a moment while I prepare your answer.

A sound like that usually comes from the drive train such as bearings in the axles or transmission output shafts. I don't think it's related to oiling thought the way you explained the noise.

Thanks, Ron

What needs to be replaced?
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 17 days ago.

Well, once the bad part is located on a hoist with the drive train activated, we will know for sure.

It does sound like axle bearings to me though.

Thanks again and please remember to rate me 5 stars and keep this link in case you need me again later on.
