My 2002 S80 has 222,000 mi and while driving up a this

Customer Question

My 2002 S80 has 222,000 mi and while driving up a hill this morning, I heard a rattle, then my check engine light started flashing. The light went off, but came back on periodically the rest of the way to work and idled rough at stop lights.
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: It blinks. I hoped maybe it was just a short because my yellow/red warning triangle isn't coming on.
JA: Are you fixing your S80 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I just got to work so I haven't tried anything yet.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: It's been shifting rough sporadically lately - it revs up to about 2500-3000 before shifting - usually while making a turn or accelerating from a stop.

Hello, I'm Brandon

The engine just experienced a misfire condition.
This is bad if you disregard it since raw fuel is getting dump into the converter and exhaust.

First you should get the vehicle scan for the code.

Typically a blinking light and from what you are describing it is misfire.

All the ignition coils and spark plugs will need to be replaced with factory coils and plugs.

Each coil is about $60 range and the labor is less than 2 hours for the whole job.

Please rate me positive,thank you.

I'm assuming you have the 6 cylinders 2.9 liters engine. Therefore 6 coils and plugs will be necessary.
