2004 XC70 this morning the key will not activate the starter. Dash message. Brake failure. Pressing on the brake seems to have pressure?
JA: When you turn the key, do you get a single loud click, or a series of rapid ones?
Customer: Neither, only activity is dash icons
JA: Are you fixing your XC70 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Checked brake fluid level, it's up

Hello, my name is***** first thing that needs to be done is to check the vehicles battery. You need to have it load tested as a low battery will cause this. If the battery is fine then the issue may be in the brake switch. If it fails then the vehicle will not start correctly as it will not detect the brake pedal being applied.
