Volvo Troubleshooting Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose) I prefer to work when others don't, I am here around lunch and after dinner till after midnight.working after noon till just after midnight.
Welcome, sorry you did not notice the hours I said I work.
Does your vehicle have HID XENON headlights?
Are the fog lights on with the low beams commanded on?
Do you have a sophisticated scan tool?
Thanks, ***** ***** to check the bulbs but it would be really odd for both to fail at the same time. You already mentioned you checked the fuses. Since the fog lights work, that means the CEM Central electronics module is getting a signal from the headlight dimmer switch. The CEM powers the headlights, so this failure is going to be a faulty CEM that needs to be replaced. It is behind the right side of the dash.
This is my 1st answer, but does not have to be my only answer. You the website and myself expect you to have a ~~~5 STAR EXCELLENT~~~ experience with my help. Please let me know if you are pleased by selecting a star rating above or by replying and saying your pleased. Not rating or rating 1-2 stars does not benefit you nor me in any way. Follow up and reply as often and when needed, there is no extra charge to do so.
To my knowledge, they are not sold aftermarket. The dealership would be the best place to get one. I noticed a misprint in my prior post, left side of the dash, not right side. Part cost guesstimate 700$.
There is not a low beam relay. Would you like to see the wire diagram so you can see what is used for the low beams?
Here is the diagram.
Hello again Chris here,
No this should not be the headlight switch to blame.
