Customer Question

1998 Volvo XC70 AWD: I just replaced the PCV system on my car. I used a kit from FCP-Groton that included a new oil separator, hoses and intake manifold gasket. I also removed and cleaned the PTC valve which was clogged. I cleaned all engine ports before replacing new hoses.
The engine ran ok prior to this job. Cart has 210k miles. Now completed, when I start the engine it races then idles, races then idles, runs rough and has a backfire within the engine almost sounds like popcorn popping.
I have rechecked all vacuum hose connections, electrical connections, and for air leaks at connections. Stumped ??? Need help. Thanks.

Double check your bolt and nut count, if all bolts and nuts accounted for, Use carburetor cleaner ,and spray all around the new components, if no vacuum leaks found,Attempt to drive vehicle a short distance 5 miles if possible including in town driving, stop and go traffic, as well as highway cruising this will give the computer a chance to recognize the new electronic components and reset all parameters.
