hello marty my younger brother has a s40 and took it to the shop. apparently the battery went dead and now the shop doesnt know why the securitty system is not working is this related to your previous post "2002 S40: battery went dead..know the security code"

Its not uncommon for the security system to loose programming in some cases if the battery dies, the first thing you need to do is to try using your spare key and see if it will start. If that does not work then the system will need to be scanned to see if there are any fault code setting.
