Volvo V70 2.4: My in laws have a v70 2004 check engine light

Customer Question

My in laws have a v70 2004 check engine light is on and fuel gauge is erratic. Problem is it dies randomly no matter if idling or under throttle. No rough idle. Just dies. Turn key off and restart and go. Any ideas? We don't have codes. Mechanic hasn't returned call with them.

Hi I'm Kevin. The problems you have certainly would point to a fuel pump issue the pump is the only common between the gauge not working intermittently and the pump . Apart from testing the wiring to and from for any signs of damage I would be replacing pump
