Thank you. There is a recall that may be open for this symptom. I just left work but I will run the VIN when I get home and get back to you if thats alright
ok thanks
Okay, I ran the VIN and the recall has already been performed in July of 2007. However, it isn't uncommon to see the part fail again and cause this. The part I suspect is the fuel pressure sensor, located on the end of the fuel rail. It senses fuel pressure and reports to the ECM, which commands the pump accordingly. What happens is the sensor intermittantly reads incorrectly, which causes the ECM to stop fuel and the car stalls out. This will usually set a code for fuel pressure in the ECM, but a generic scanner that most parts stores use may not be able to read all the codes.
Another possibility is a communication problem with the Central Electronic Module, which communicates with all the modules on the vehicle. This will be harder to fault trace, and will require a dealership scanner because their scanner can communicate with all modules and see if there are communication codes in any of them. Additionally, if the CEM should need to be replaced, it needs to be programmed, which only a dealer can perform.
