Volvo S60 R: Hi, just an hour ago I was driving my Volvo S60R

Hi, just an hour ago I was driving my Volvo S60R 2004 and suddenly felt the engine is not responding and the pedal just like not working. I got the warning message "Reduced Engine Performance" stopped the car and then it swished off. I restarted it again and it was the same, I have to press the pedal too much to get the RPM moving. I drove around 4 miles, stopped the car at home and found another message "Immobiliser See Manual". I'm going for a trip in two hours for around 700 Miles. Your immediate advice is highly appreciated. Thanks

Hello, I will try to help, this sounds like a failed ETM to me. (Electronic Throttle Module). With the "Reduced Engine Performance" message. That message indicates that a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) has been logged in the Engine Control Module. Volvo has had a massive amount of trouble out of their ETM's. So much trouble in fact that the warranty has been extended to 10 years or 200,000 miles. So if your ETM has failed, then it will be covered under an extended Volvo warranty. it's possible it could be something else, such as a mass air flow sensor or fuel pump but most likely it's an ETM.

So is there something that I can do to check if it is the ETM or other things such as fuel pump? Or I have to take it to the dealer to check?

you will need a scanner to check the codes to confirm it is an ETM. Most repair shops can check the codes. as well as some local auto parts stores can scan your vehicle. If you have Throttle communication codes or signal absent codes from ETM. then you'll need a new ETM. I'm in United States, so I am not aware of which local auto parts stores you have in Saudi Arabia but, I would try to find the most prominent local auto parts store and ask them if they can scan your vehicle for codes.
